#4 Devotion-It is Time

Actions for Revival

“[IF] My people who are called by My name humble themselves, pray and seek My face, and turn from their evil ways, then I will hear from heaven, forgive their sin, and heal their land.

2 Chronicles 7:14 (KJV)

This verse addresses the people of God. Particularly the Children of Israel, but now the call is extended to the church, God’s people in the world today- We are those called by His name, transformed by His everlasting love through His Son’s death, burial and resurrection.

Therefore, we are called by God to humble ourselves, pray, seek His face and turn from our deplorable lives of rebellion and disobedience. We must be dependent on God and God alone. Everything else has failed and will fail. We cannot depend on ourselves, education, occupation, or government. It is nothing but God on which and rely on in the world in which we live.

The call is:

  • To Humble ourselves.
  • Bow before the Father of Creation
  • Proclaim that He and He alone is worthy of our devotion.

Often, we see the acronym P.U.S.H.-Pray Until Something Happens, and there is some real truth found there. But the question is always, “What do you want to happen?” Do we have specific things in mind, or do we just go at prayer with a list of demands and generalities? We need to come before God some concrete pleas.

  • God speak to me.
  • God show me my sin and my rebellion against You.
  • God, point out the dark corners of in my life which I have yet to surrender to You.
  • God, draw near to me without barriers and walls separating me Your presence.
  • God, I desire to seek You so you might show me Your purposes and Your plans for my life.

Accordingly, you must be willing to confess our rebellion and your sin to God. Willingly turning to Him, forsaking all things and trusting Him and Him alone. It is a complete 360 degree turn, leaving the muck and mire of the sinful, disobedient life behind and pressing on to the cross.

“Wherefore seeing we also are compassed about with so great a cloud of witnesses, let us lay aside every weight, and the sin which doth so easily beset us, and let us run with patience the race that is set before us, Looking unto Jesus the author and finisher of our faith; who for the joy that was set before him endured the cross, despising the shame, and is set down at the right hand of the throne of God. For consider him that endured such contradiction of sinners against himself, lest ye be wearied and faint in your minds.”

Hebrews 12:1-3 (KJV)

Consider an exercise:

As a believer you are to do four things. Beside each word or phrase, write a response which reflects your desire:

  • Humble:
  • Pray:
  • Seek [His] face:
  • Turn from [My] sin:
