I’m still thinking of the Resurrection. Basking in the glory of the events which led up to that marvelous day and those who observed the death, burial and resurrection of our Lord Jesus Christ.
I’m thinking of John, the Apostle who describes himself as the one Jesus loved. He was so humble he referred to himself as a disciple and not by name in his Gospel.
He was of the inner circle. Experienced some of the incredible moments in Jesus short earthly ministry. Such as the transfiguration and the garden prayers. He had insider info others where not privy to.
At the Cross he stood, with tears of sorrow as his Master died. There he is standing by Mary, the mother of Immanuel. Jesus looked on them with immense compassion and concern. He knew they both would feel an empty place for…at least a short period. He said…
“Now there stood by the cross of Jesus his mother… When Jesus therefore saw his mother, and the disciple standing by, whom he loved, he saith unto his mother, ‘Woman, behold thy son!’ Then saith he to the disciple, ‘Behold thy mother!’ And from that hour that disciple took her unto his own home.”
John 19:25-27 KJV
John took care of the Mother of the Master. But he also recorded these great words of Jesus…
“Let not your heart be troubled: ye believe in God, believe also in me. In my Father’s house are many mansions: if it were not so, I would have told you. I go to prepare a place for you. And if I go and prepare a place for you, I will come again, and receive you unto myself; that where I am, there ye may be also. And whither I go ye know, and the way ye know.”
John 14:1-4 KJV
We must take Jesus at His word. Follow His commands and live in faith of a better tomorrow.
