Getting Direction

A Global Positioning System or GPS is useless in Coosa County, for the most part.  If an individual is attempting to come to our county and is not familiar with the area, it may get them to the county but in most cases not to the exact spot they wish to go.

Over and over again I have talked with folks who have trusted their GPS to help them find a place in Coosa County, yet more often than not they have found themselves sitting in the drivers seat looking at a one lane dirt road in the middle of nowhere…no houses, businesses or churches around.

Recently someone from Chilton County was attempting to find Rockford Church.  Their GPS brought them to the crossroads at the courthouse, told them to turn left and took them to Sears Chapel.  They were quite bewildered.

I use an application called Google Maps on my cell phone and it has been very helpful in finding places where I needed to go.

I call her Bertha.  I do not know why, but it sticks and now I ask Bertha for directions to places I may not know exactly where they are.

Thinking about Bertha and the help she gives in navigating new and unfamiliar routes or locations, I think about today, tomorrow, the next months, next year.

We are not sure where the days ahead will go for each of us, nor do we know what pitfalls, heartaches, struggles or pain lay ahead of us.

But…

We may not know what the future holds, but we know who holds the future.

We can rest assured the Lord Jesus has already been there, knows what is to come and has already prepared the way for us.

He told Jeremiah:

“For I know the thoughts that I think toward you, saith the Lord, thoughts of peace, and not of evil, to give you an expected end.” (Jeremiah 29:11 KJV)

God’s plans for your life are unknown to you, but you can trust Him.  He will walk with you each step, leading you and directing you as you advance.  There is no need to fear the unknown.

“I will be with thee: I will not fail thee, nor forsake thee. Be strong and of a good courage.”  (Joshua 1:5-6 KJV)

Several times in this chapter, God speaks to Joshua and tells him to be strong, take courage and do what he is told to do for God will not fail him.

Same is true for all of us.

“Thank you Father for another beautiful day.  Today we desire to follow You and serve You.  We will walk with You and know You are leading us in the ways which You desire for us.  May our lives be examples of Your continual care and others will see You are the God who never, ever fails.  In Your name we pray, Amen.”
